Steinway & Sons - Model A

A beautiful example of late Victorian craftsmanship in satinwood with the original paintings. This is an extraordinary piano in the fortunate nature of the preservation of the paintings. The casework was clean by professionals and not re-polished.
It was restored in our Cambridge workshops in 2001.As with all our Steinways we replace the necessary parts with genuine Steinway parts, but with the view that retaining originality is paramount. We are restoring the instrument to its original new state, not making a new piano out of an old one.
The advantage of rebuilding a Steinway is that the design has not changed in basic design in 100 years. There have been improvements mad, but the action is the basically the same and you can fit a new one to and older piano and achieve the touch and feel of a new Steinway. As with all our Steinways we replace the necessary parts with genuine Steinway parts, but with the view that retaining originality is paramount. We are restoring the instrument to its original new state, not making a new piano out of an old one.
