In the Music Gallery we supply instruments for string players of all standards, from the first lesson to professional musicians. We take the greatest care of our instruments and to ensure the instrument is in the best playing condition, they are set up by professional luthiers.
On our entry level instruments we offer a rental scheme for beginners or when a child is moving up through the sizes. Our highly trained staff can measure children to find the correct sizing and help with any question.
We always have a large number of violins, violas and 'cellos set-up and ready to try. We stock instruments from makers such as Roderick Paesold, Lothar Semmlinger, Gewa, Stentor, Zeller and many more.
We have countless bows to ensure that you can choose the right bow for yourself and your instrument. We stock both wood and carbon fibre bows and have plenty of space for you to come and find the bow for you.
Eugenie Degan, an independant resident luthier, is available for any advice and changes to set-ups. After some years playing full time in Symphony and Chamber orchestras, as well as teaching cello, Eugenie went to study violin making at London Metropolitan University where she graduated in 2005 with distinction.
She trained in well known London workshops such as J.PGuivier and F.Leonhard; she carried out her repair and restoration apprenticeship a further 3 years with Peter Ratcliff in his Brighton workshop.
